Hi Brightwood:
Neighbors have made me aware of a suspicious man who hangs around the Fort Stevens Recreation Center playground. He closely watches nannies who are there with the children in their care. He glares and stares at the nannies inappropriately, watching them closely. On Monday, this man followed a nanny as she walked back to the home of the child in her care. The nanny, startled, called her employer who met her on the sidewalk and called the police when she saw this man walking extremely close to her nanny. The man then quickly left and walked towards the 14th Street apartments.
He is described as mixed race with light/med brownish skin, and dark hair which is sometimes braided and sometimes worn in a messy short look. He is between 5'11 and 6'2 and around 200 pounds and between 30-40 years of age. He is usually at the playground around 10 am and sometimes plays basketball.
I spoke with MPD about this man and was told to tell neighbors to call 911 if they see him at Fort Stevens playground. MPD is aware of him as a police report has been filed.
