On Monday, September 12, I participated in the Walter Reed Community Advisory Committee virtual meeting, and I want to update the community with what I learned. 1. Starbucks is coming to The Parks at Walter Reed by the summer of 2024! Thank you to Hines-Urban Atlantic Development. 2. Down in the Reeds returns to The Parks at Walter Reed on October 14, 2023! Down In The Reeds 3. Access to Whole Foods for Brightwood residents is now, or soon will be easier! Many Brightwood residents who live on Aspen, Van Bur But... progress is progress! I also requested green light turning arrows at the traffic lights on Georgia & Dahlia (the entrance/exit to/from Whole Foods on Georgia). The traffic lights do not have turning arrows, which is difficult and dangerous when depending on Georgia to/from Whole Foods. 4. The Pool: The public outdoor pool is still coming to The Parks. It is behind schedule but funded and in the Department of Parks & Recreation's budget. We all look forward to another outdoor public pool in Ward 4. Currently, there is only one - Upshur Pool. 5.
