Hi Brightwood:
Every quarter I engage the Department of Health (DOH) to exterminate areas of Brightwood that have a rat problem. There are known rat infestations at the apartments along 14th Street, the BP and Exxon Gas Stations on Georgia Ave, and other sites. The DOH continually exterminates these known sites to help keep rat populations under control.
With permission, DOH will inspect and, if needed, exterminate the yards of private homeowners. If you would like your yard inspected and exterminated, please put your address and signature on the attached petition and email it back to me. I will give you notice when DOH comes out to exterminate. If you own pets, please keep them out of yards for a week after treatment. DOH uses a poisonous powder in visible rat burrows (holes in soil). The powder sticks to the bodies of the rats, and when licked, it kills them.
Please send signed petitions to me by March 14.
