Great News! Police Bike Patrol Return to Brightwood

Hello Neighbors:

After many requests to MPD, the Mayor, CM Lewis George, and the press, MPD recently contacted me to share great news - its Community Focused Bike Patrol Unit has been assigned to Brightwood and has already been patrolling our streets. The Bike Patrol, primarily deployed on mountain bikes and scooters, is deployed in areas of DC experiencing an increase in violent crimes.

The bike units will increase MPD members’ visibility throughout the neighborhoods most affected by violent crime and reinforce MPD's priorities of directly engaging with the communities they serve. To reduce and address violent crime, the bike patrol unit uses an intelligence-led policing strategy that targets individuals who are committing violent acts. You can expect to see them along the Georgia Avenue corridor.
