Hi Brightwood:
About 2 weeks ago a long-term Brightwood neighbor noticed a huge amount of gang graffiti on 2 brick walls of a parking lot on the 1200 block of Tuckerman Street. He took photos, sent them to me, and asked if I could work with DC to remove the graffiti. I went to the 1200 block of Tuckerman to see for myself and oh my God - there was an enormous display of gang graffiti painted everywhere!
With the help of Mr. Dance from the Department of Public Works, Will Perkins from CM Lewis George's office, ANC Patience Singleton, Sophia Tekola of the Mayor's office, and of course our concerned neighbor who took the photos, the graffiti was removed in a week.
Thank you to everyone who quickly worked together to remove a concern and a blight in our community.
