For Valentine's & President's Day Show Brightwood Some LOVE on Saturday, Feb 11th - 10:30 am - 12:30

Hi Neighbors:

On Saturday, Feb 11 from 10:30 am - 12:30 pm, Brightwood ANC Commissioners Kim Patterson and Patience Singleton are hosting a Fort Stevens Civil War Memorial Clean-Up along with the Mayor's Office of the Clean City to celebrate Valentine's & President's Day! Please see the attachment for more details.

Located atop the parapet of Fort Stevens is a commemorative stone dedicated to Abraham Lincoln and his involvement with the fort on the second day of the Battle of Fort Stevens. On July 12, 1864, President Lincoln stood atop the parapet of the fort to witness the battle and came under direct fire from Confederate sharpshooters. It was the only time in American history when a sitting president came under direct fire from an enemy combatant.

President Lincoln's birthday is Feb 12th & Valentine's Day is Feb 14th, so come to Fort Stevens located at 6001 13th Street on Feb 11th to celebrate and help clean it up!

My best,

Commissioner Kim Patterson
