Hello Brightwood neighbors,
Please join us on Tuesday, June 11th, for our general public meeting. We'll be holding Board Member elections. Nominations for all positions will be accepted up to 7 pm on Monday, June 10th. Please see below for eligibility requirements. All positions are up for election. The positions of 2nd Vice President and Secretary are open and we welcome nominations. Please join us to support our election process.
This month's meeting will feature representatives from the National Park Service, National Links Trust, and Rock Creek Golf Course For All. They will discuss the proposed rehabilitation of the Rock Creek Golf Course. In March, the NPS issued a Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for the Environmental Assessment. However, in response to community concerns, NPS and NLT were asked to conduct additional community engagement around the findings before receiving final approval from the National Capital Planning Commission. I know many of you have questions and concerns, especially about the volume of trees slated for removal and light pollution. The golf course is a valued Brightwood resource. Please come out and contribute to this discussion on its future.
The BCA extends congratulations to Councilmember Janeese Lewis-George on her re-election. We look forward to continuing to work with her and her team for the benefit of the Brightwood Community. We thank her, and the other candidates, Lisa Gore and Paul Johnson, for taking the time to join us and share their plans during their campaigns.
BCA Board member eligibility requirements:: A person accepting a nomination for President must be a paid member of the Association for at least two (2) years prior to the date of accepting a nomination. Eligibility for all other officer positions is that nominees are paid members in good standing with the Association and have attended at least one general meeting prior to the date when nominated.
